Added Japan and China to the rotating link below “Eclipses Visible From Mann” and above the AuroraWatch. NASA, Arianespace, JAXA, and CNSA all sport video footage of the last launches they made. There are now three months of “In Manx Skies…” available. The current month, the previous and the next. The Chairman’s Diary Notes video is a more general focus on Society activities, and only available at broadband speeds.

Added a Light Pollution section to the external links window on the left of the homepage.

The Chairman’s Monthly Notes have been added in video format for the month ahead. This should ensure that there is always at least one month of night sky info for the IoM always available. The links (broadband and narrowband) can be found at the beginning of the Manx Night Sky ticker.

The “Eclipse Visible From Mann” lunar link has been updated following the 3rd March eclipse, showing a montage of the event, and details of the next lunar eclipse.

The “IoM” link on the central contents bar has been renamed to “IoM headlines”. The page has been totally revamped, and carries a deal more news links from newspaper, internet, broadcasting and other sources.

We have our first astro-blogger, “IoMStargazer”, run by Dave Storey! There is a link to this under BLOGS on the external links panel on the left hand side of our main page, but to speed things up for you, you can click here to go to it.

The position of the talking avatars, or “newscasters”, has been moved to appear where the masthead links are located, at the top right. Once an announcement is completed, the normal links/earth globe, will re-appear approximately 5 seconds later.

The three RSS feeds from NASA, ESA, and Universe Today respectively, have had added alongside a “View all” option, so that visitors are not obliged to wait for the full cycle to complete.

The masthead links at the top right of the Welcome Page, which include automated processes for making the site your Homepage, Emailing the site to a friend, and adding it to your Favourites, has been revamped. A link to add IoMAS as an Internet Explorer 7 Search Provider, is now in place for those surfers running with IE7.

The “Sun / Moon times” link in ONLINE CALCS has been revamped. Formerly a manual update procedure performed somewhat irregularly, this is now a useful semi-automated process. The moon phase is always current, and the data for sunrise and sunset is one click away for the IoM Observatory, or can be customised for any date and locality as required.

A direct link “aurora VISIBILITY” to the latest NOAA POES Auroral Activity has been placed adjacent to the revised link image of the “NASA Sun Earth” mentioned below.

Immediately below these two links, are two further new ones. The first is a link to the live “AuroraWatch Current Data”, and the second an RSS feed showing the very last alert status notification from AuroraWatch.

The “Universe Today” link has now been converted to an RSS feed.

An RSS feed for weather from Ronaldsway is now available below the OS map on the Welcome page. The displayed link showing temperature and visibility clicks through to detailed info usually less than two hours old.

RSS feed of “Top News” from the European Space Agency (ESA), has been added below the “Breaking News” RSS feed from NASA which was recently introduced.
