Comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann ..........................................................Page Updated 7th April 2010

Discovered on 15th November 1925 by Arnold Schwassmann and Arno Arthur Wachmann at the Hamburg Observatory. It regularly goes into outburst which can be an increase of 4 magnitudes. These outburst are quite frequent, around 7 times a year. Normally, it shines at a dim 16th magnitude.


The comet orbits the sun every 14.65 years at a distance of around 6 astronomical units. (558 million miles).


This comet went into outburst on February 2nd 2010.
